Description
VTT F9X M5 / M8
Complete Turbo-Side Intake System (S63)
VTT is proud to offer a true full turbo-side intake system for the BMW F9X M5 and M8 platforms, equipped with the S63 engine, that eliminates every factory airflow restriction from the turbocharger inlet all the way to the air filter.
Most intake kits on the market only replace the upper airbox or filter section, while leaving the restrictive factory molded plastic turbo inlet piping in place. That turbo-side inlet is the primary airflow choke point on the S63 platform—meaning those kits only address half of the problem.
Our system replaces the entire factory intake tract, starting directly at the turbochargers, with precision-machined 6061-T6 billet adapters that bolt straight to the compressor inlets. Airflow then transitions smoothly into reinforced 2.5” → 4” high-temperature silicone tubing, finishing with dual VTT 4” dry-element air filters.
This is a true unrestricted intake system—no factory bottlenecks left behind—allowing the S63 to breathe properly under both stock and increased airflow demand.

Engineering Note — Why This Matters
On the S63 platform, the most significant intake restriction is not the airbox lid or filter—it is the factory molded plastic turbo-side inlet pipe. This pipe necks down aggressively right at the turbocharger inlet, exactly where airflow demand is highest. The result is inlet depression and pressure loss before the compressor ever sees volume.
Nearly every intake kit on the market retains this factory turbo inlet, leaving the core restriction untouched.
By replacing the turbo-side connection entirely with billet adapters and a true 2.5” → 4” transition, this system removes the choke point at its source. The turbochargers benefit from:
This is where meaningful intake performance gains occur—not just added sound.
Compatibility & Tuning Summary
This intake system is fully compatible with factory tuning. No ECU calibration changes are required, and the vehicle will operate normally on stock software.
That said, the benefits become increasingly pronounced on modified or tuned vehicles. As airflow demand increases—via ECU tuning, ethanol blends, upgraded downpipes, or larger turbochargers—the factory turbo inlet restriction becomes a compounding limitation.
Removing every restriction on the compressor inlet side ensures the turbochargers are not working against unnecessary negative pressure under load.
-
Stock vehicles benefit from improved sound, responsiveness, and future headroom
-
Tuned vehicles unlock the system’s full airflow and efficiency advantage
Dyno Result Expectation
Intake systems do not generate horsepower on their own—they remove restriction, allowing the engine and turbochargers to achieve required airflow with less effort.
Results will vary based on tuning, fuel, ambient conditions, and supporting modifications. On stock calibration, expect improved throttle response and induction sound, with incremental gains under higher airflow demand. On tuned vehicles, especially those running elevated boost targets, removing the factory inlet restriction allows the S63 to produce power more efficiently and consistently.
The real benefit is airflow headroom and efficiency, not inflated dyno marketing numbers.
